अनुच्छेद 351 – हिन्दी भाषा के विकास के लिए निदेश
भारतीय संविधान का अनुच्छेद 351 संघ (Union Government) को हिन्दी भाषा के विकास और प्रसार के संबंध में निर्देश देता है। इसके अनुसार संघ का यह कर्तव्य होगा कि वह हिन्दी भाषा का प्रचार-प्रसार करे तथा उसका ऐसा विकास करे कि वह भारत की सामासिक संस्कृति (Composite Culture) के सभी तत्वों की अभिव्यक्ति का प्रभावी माध्यम बन सके।
इस अनुच्छेद में यह भी व्यवस्था की गई है कि हिन्दी भाषा को समृद्ध बनाने के लिए हिन्दुस्तानी तथा संविधान की आठवीं अनुसूची (Eighth Schedule) में उल्लिखित अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं के रूपों, शैलियों एवं अभिव्यक्तियों को अपनाया जाए। हिन्दी की शब्दावली के विकास के लिए मुख्य रूप से संस्कृत तथा आवश्यकता पड़ने पर अन्य भारतीय भाषाओं से शब्द ग्रहण किए जाएँ।
इस प्रकार अनुच्छेद 351 का उद्देश्य हिन्दी भाषा का विकास, समृद्धि एवं व्यापक प्रयोग सुनिश्चित करना है, साथ ही भारत की भाषाई विविधता का सम्मान बनाए रखना भी है।

Article 351 – Directive for Development of the Hindi Language
Article 351 of the Constitution of India lays down the duty of the Union Government regarding the development of Hindi. It directs the Union to promote the spread of the Hindi language and develop it so that it may serve as a medium of expression for all elements of India's composite culture.
The Article further provides that Hindi should be enriched by assimilating forms, styles and expressions from Hindustani and other languages specified in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution. For the development of its vocabulary, Hindi should draw primarily from Sanskrit and secondarily from other Indian languages.
Thus, Article 351 aims at the growth, enrichment and wider use of Hindi as a link language while respecting India's linguistic diversity.
